I beat the Beastie!

On the 7th May I headed out to Beale Park for the Thames Valley Triathlete’s Beale Beastie Sprint Tri, which involved a 400m lake swim, 20km hilly cycle and 5km xc run.

The water was cold at 13degrees and I think it was just the adrenaline that got me through! 18362277_10158473448615315_292472925_oThe Beale Bestie Tri – 7.5.17 – www.thamesvalleytriathletes.co.uk

Out on the bike it was a very hilly course around the beautiful countryside and then back into the park to head out on the grass round the lake for the run. On the hill up through the park for the last km or so, I caught up with another girl and put in a push to get past her and gain some distance.

Overall my times were:

  • 400m lake swim in 7:08mins
  • T1 in 1:02mins
  • 20km hilly cycle in 42:10mins
  • T2 in 34.9secs
  • 5km xc run in 21:52mins
  • = a total time of 1:12:48.

Resulting in earning myself a 3rd place finish in the female open age cat,  4th overall female and 24th overall.

Looking at the overall results my swim was average with the 7th fastest in the open age cat, my cycle was a bit better being 4th and then my run was strong being 1st. It’s of course always a balance though of how hard I can push it on the bike and still have legs that will run!
